Mindfulness

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an experiential course that teaches  mindfulness practices to support increased self-awareness and self-care.  Mindfulness helps us to slow down, pay attention, and see things more clearly.  It supports our ability to savor the pleasures in life as they occur and cultivate a greater capacity to deal with difficulties. The MBSR course consists of eight weekly classes and one full day of Mindfulness.  The group can accommodate up to 25 participants.

Mindful Parenting is a course based on Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). It was designed for parents of children with mental health diagnoses, but is supportive and applicable to all parents. Participants learn Mindfulness practices and how to apply them to everyday lives as parents.  Mindful Parenting consists of eight weekly classes and can include an additional half-day. The group can accommodate size eight to sixteen participants. Parents and caregivers of children of all ages are welcome.

No prior experience is required for either program.

Meditation is not meant to help us run away from difficulties.  It is meant to allow positive healing to take place. To meditate is to learn how to stop being carried away by our regrets about the past, our anger or despair in the present, or our worries about the future.
